What are sports injuries?
Sports injuries refer to injuries that most commonly occur during sports or exercise. Some sports injuries result from accidents and others are due to poor training practices, improper footwear or equipment, lack of conditioning, or insufficient warm-up and stretching.

Rehabilitation after orthopedic surgery is one of our main areas of focus. This includes knee reconstruction, hip and knee replacement, foot and ankle surgery, shoulder replacement and stabilization, and fracture repair. Another area of focus includes conditions that do not require surgery, such as neck and low-back pain, arthritis, hip and knee injuries, foot and ankle disorders, muscle strains and tears, joint sprains, bursitis and tendinitis, and overuse injuries such as runner’s knee, tennis elbow, and golfer’s elbow. Our physical therapists can prescribe exercises, stretches and a training regime that will help you to regain your strength quickly and fully.
In addition to treating sports-related injuries we also offer programs specifically tailored to athletes.
- The Running Clinic is a ten-week program designed to prepare runners for the running season, supplement in-season training, and prevent running injuries. It includes a physical therapy screen, an individually tailored program, and exercises that focus on flexibility, strength training, plyometrics and trunk stability.
- Sports Metrics is the only training program scientifically proven to decrease knee injuries in young athletes. A six-week training program features a dynamic warm-up, jump/plyometric drills, strength training and flexibility exercises.
- Peak Running Gait Analysis is designed to help runners feel better, train harder, and go faster. Using slow-motion video analysis of your running form, we will develop an individualized program to help you achieve your running goals.
